Baccarat is not a difficult game to play. In fact it is probably the simplest game you can enjoy at a casino. Baccarat is a three way bet game: you can bet with player, bank or on a tie and that’s all you can do. Once you have placed your bet, the game will automatically play its hands and depending on the hands played decide on the winner.
This does not however mean that there are no tips that we can give you to improve your game. The most important thing you need to try is limit your losses as you play the game. But before we look at some tips, let us recap on how the game works so there are no misunderstandings later on. As said earlier, there are only three types of bets you can place at the baccarat table: bank, player and a tie.
Two hands are dealt in the game of baccarat and the higher wins. It does not matter whether you bet on the bank or player as the odds for both are identical. In fact, betting on the bank holds a smaller house edge, but the casino will make up for this by charging a commission on a bank win.
It is important to remember that in baccarat you are neither the player, nor the banker. You are rather an outsider betting on either. Unlike blackjack, there is no way to bust in baccarat. In baccarat all face cards have a value of 10, whilst all other cards are at face value. Aces are worth 1 and suits do not matter. In baccarat only single digit values are valid.
Anytime a total reaches a double digit, the first digit will be dropped, leaving the result with only the second digit –an example of this is a 14 which becomes a 4. Baccarat has a three card rule, but it is not important to know these rules as online baccarat will play the hands automatically for you. The best total in baccarat is a 9.
Tip 1: Do Not Bet on a Tie
The most ludicrous bet one can make on baccarat is a Tie bet. This bet will give you the smallest chances of winning, and although it sometimes pays nine to one, there is a very small chance that a tie will often occur. The tie bet holds a house edge of 14.36%, which is a high house edge no matter what game you are planning to gamble on.
Tip 2: Play with a Big Bankroll
Online baccarat is an extremely fast game. You place your bet and within a couple of seconds the winner is revealed. It’s almost as fast as casino war. That is why your money can quickly disintegrate. Online baccarat’s smallest bet is usually $10, which is quite high compared to slots and even roulette.
Tip 3: Rather Bet on the Bank
If the bank has the lower house edge then this means that you are obligated to bet on it. If you are to take 1000 hands you will see that more than 50% of them are won by the bank. This is because the side with the last card statistically always has the upper hand. The house will of course charge you a commission on this bet, but the idea here is that you win more of the even hands.
